I certainly understand what you mean there. Let me just say that more than half of my time talking with clients has shifted to discussing value, and what I do, how I do it, and why I do it. The problem people usually have with price is that they h…

  • Opinions on the CSS-Tricks new layout

My response is kind of 2 part: 1) I really like all the new functionality, and the placement feels really good. The fonts are nice, and all the new jquery subtlies are very nice. 2) But that being said, the actual layout itself I'm not a fan…

That's good to know about the plugin. Previously I had told people to use whatever their host used, but I went into my most recently finished project and had the client get setup with analytics. Good call there gentlemen. I suppose I probabl…

  • Jquery not loading in wordpress properly

Solved (KIND OF) - I ended up just using the WP-Cycle Plugin, which worked beautifully and also provided some more flexibility of the client.

  • Jquery not loading in wordpress properly

Hmm I wonder if you saw it while I was fooling around with it trying to get it to work The place I normally call it is on the page itself (it's a custom page for the index page), so on the custom page I have: <?php /* Template Name&a…

I think you're going to find it hard to get anyone to pin down what they charge to compare. People charge differently in a pretty huge range plus it depends on your niche. A good example of this is that personally I don't do any kind of …

I love what you did with the "about me" and it makes me like how you did the contact form less. I wonder if you can easily have both the contact form and the about me section toggle like that. I think it would be way sweet.

Well done man - it's actually a very nice looking website, and it follows proper validation as well. So all in all, great job. A couple of things I saw could be helped out - I thought the rollover color was a little TOO light on the menu. No…

  • My new portfolio

I wouldn't say the color scheme is ugly, more just flat. It just doesn't seem to have much flavor. A couple of usability critiques: 1) The icons on the bottom I don't feel make sense. The icon associated with graphic design a what…

I would try and work on generally toning down everything - it's a little extreme for anyone spending a significant amount of time looking at the site. Bright colors doesn't necessarily mean you need to burn out anyone's retinas I&#…

Thanks for the feedback - yeah the navbar has been a bit of a headache. I wasn't getting the effect I wanted using transparent pngs, which led me to the jpegs. I do agree it may be a bit slow. The guy I built it for likes it that slow, but I…

Robski, have you ever checked out Invoice Machine? I just looked at it the other day and I REALLY like how slick it is. But like Curdbee it lacks some of the really useful stuff Freshbooks has like expenses and the like.

I think the most gentle way to approach the logo is to simply as, "If you don't mind my asking, who designed your logo". The answer will drastically change the way you respond. If they say some intern made it 10 years ago, you will …

For no money? I suggest Curdbee. But you won't be able to get around that paypal drama, my friend. Best to clear that up because there really isn't a good alternative I've ever heard of.

One thing to note is that I've found certain hosting providers give certain limits to what you can do with htaccess. On my godaddy hosted site, nothing I did to the htaccess stuck, but on my MT hosted account it works just fine.
