I only have a blackberry so no sure it this works or not on a larger screen on hand held, but I have tested it and it displays an background img on my PC and not on my blackberry.

No I cannot understand why its not working as the syntax is correct. On mobile devices the images are even more out of sync. I wonder if it could be something to do with bandwidth?
