  • Searching the text within a PDF?

That's where I eventually ended up recommending. It's probably roughly 900 to 1100 pages of text to copy, but I think it would probably be worth it in the end to actually have that as real content instead of PDF's only.

  • Searching the text within a PDF?

Hmmm that last line is interesting. Basically, the situation is these guys have a library of like 75 archived "issues" of PDF's that are just in a massive list. Most of these are in just text with a couple of images. They were hopi…

  • Anyone recently mess with Drupal?

Just reading what Views are, they look like they function almost exactly like loop functions or custom post types. Are they significantly more flexible in some way or am I misunderstanding what Views do?

  • Anyone recently mess with Drupal?

Well, after working with it a little, I can definitely say that at this point Joomla is now officially the worst CMS I've ever used. The one thing I can say Drupal gets overwhelmingly right is the interaction of the page editing. It "fee…

  • What do you suggest?

Eh, I gotta agree with Mr. Burton. It's one thing to make a bunch of designs to get feedback on. But it's quite another to show a few examples, incessantly ask for people to provide ideas and when some person bites and gives an idea it&#…

If you don't redesign the whole thing, I'd say once you get it in a finished state, start think about v2 right away. I agree that from what I've seen of your talents, a minimalist site is the way to go. Ideally, I think you should d…

Take this for exactly what it is: a learning experience. Your next gig needs a contact. Even if you develop a relatively simple contract, you've got to start going in that direction. But I'll say this - the value of the contact 99% of t…

  • Thoughts on a site

@tannercampbell Hmmm I don't know if I would make it a link to a blog entry... but maybe it has to be that way. In my mind, you have to somehow tie together a lot of different people's feedback into one place you can access it. I wonder …

I think it's an interesting concept, but the value is in fleshing the concept out a bit. You know, there are a lot of people who have similar, yet totally different experiences. What would be an interesting thing to find out is if you ended u…

Thanks I appreciate it! Lynda has some extensive training too, so if necessary at least I have that avenue :) Not big on drupal either. For some reason it's known as the "enterprise cms" in some circles. To each his own I suppose!

  • My website sometimes work and then it doesn't... what could possibly be the problem?

"99% up-time" is the claim that literally every host can give you. Not really much of a selling point there. I can say without even encountering the problem, the site is running (at least right now) ridiculously slow for basic page loadi…
