just a couple notes: if you purchase coda, don't also purchase transmit, as it is built into coda. Also, Mac OS X includes apache and php built-in, so you could simply install MySQL and have MAMP. Of course, many like the package installs over the defaults... Oh, and one more thing, Coda is currently on sale for $75 - a savings of $24
my first post from Mac so ... web work on Mac compared to Win (17 years of experience) ?
Mac = nirvana :D I bought apps you recommended, so amazing, faster, neater, cleaner !
I still have this Win model in my mind like: * this is gonna take an hour just to set up, 100 lines on command line * installing 5 diff apps, setting them up * maybe start working later today
on Mac * hmm, few buttons, just click it, no save needed * I just put it here, drag and drop, damn * so I saved 50 mins, because the app did it for me, wow !
wish I switched from the dark side a long time ago :)
@joshuanhibbert you can read what I posted 8 posts above :) where I wrote my first post from Mac
*
but basically Mac is faster, easier to navigate, more powerful when doing web design / coding work
UI is super simple, no unnecessary options, al is almost instantly clear what it does
only drawback I so far suffer with is my "muscle memory" on left hand where I keep messing keys on keyboard as I am used to those from Windows (Ctrl, Win, Alt)
so in that bit I am slightly slower while typing and editing but smart apps that enhance productivity fairly make up to it and I am still 3x faster then on Windows
Make sure you are binding your mission control options to keys you can easily reach. I felt the same way you did about sides / maximizing, etc but after using mission control to setup additional desktops and working between windows that way I find Windows to now be the limiting of the two platforms (I still run windows at my office).
@JoshWhite I am still getting used to Mac but these neat apps as mentioned above make it easier to cross over to the other universe* * (obvious FRINGE hint :))
if I were to buy all of them (excluding Photoshop) it would cost $1334 I will buy just the most essential ones now to get up and running then add up gradually in course of the year
feel free to read through the 1st post and add here any cool app you use thanks a lot again
but the title of the thread is web dev apps for mac - the free yet powerful TextWrangler deserves a mention (it doesn't come with the Mac, but it is free). I agree that Sublimetext 2 is superior, but first used TextWrangler when I was starting out.

thanks for info, updated my list again :)
one thing I miss still
I understood there is inbuilt Ruby in the system
is it true ?
if so how do I check this (perhaps using terminal) ?
I updated the list above with prices on left side
can help you a bit I hope ;)
so ... web work on Mac compared to Win (17 years of experience) ?

wish I switched from the dark side a long time ago :)
or is it inbuilt feature ?
it is similar to Win Alt+Tab for switching running apps
http://krsiakdaniel.minus.com/mbaGTwTDjz/24f
So Cmd+W closes a window, Cmd+Q quits an app, Cmd+H hides an app, etc etc
I will google some of these shortcuts to get more info
tmux
livereload
xscope
just what I needed
thanks to you guys I managed to put together a list of so far 35 apps for Mac :)
which are preatty neat
see my list above, I sorted them by price in ascending order
you can read what I posted 8 posts above :)
where I wrote my first post from Mac

that is good when you are on OSx only

winner for me is cross platform Sublimetext 2
I added TextWrangler in the list and also BBEdit
Hi,
I started this topic almost a year ago. I will be moving this list of Mac apps to Github because updating old post here does not make much sense.
Anyway.
Last question before closing this topic as solved.
I was curious what apps came out since 2013 which I might have missed.
Are there any new cool apps you found this year ?
