What I would like to do on the floorplan is colour in certain rooms. What is the best way to approach this create images of each room as a solid colour and use as required.
Or use css to make the room shape? maybe using different shapes triangles and squares etc to make the required shape, or is their another way??
any thoughts on how to tackle this most welcome, a lot of rooms to tackle !!
will the image be static or change on hover? either way, it seems something like this is more easily accomplished with images. You can divide the image into sections and use the CSS Sprites, to change color on hover.

There will not be a hover state.
