It's usually already installed on OS X. System Preferences>Sharing> check to see if web sharing is ticked. Then your files will be placed in your 'Sites' directory in your user's root folder. Google this, you'll find loads of info.

I'm new o mac and wanted to get some advice on running sites locally.
