I design templates in photoshop, but i think its not possible to earn extra money doing only template designing in photoshop. Isnt it so ?
I want to learn these subjects, given below ?
1. I have started leaning xhtml + css.
2. I wanna learn jquery just for slideshows and forms validations for using them on templates ( any advice that how to master on this subject as i never touched javascript or any other programming language in my life neither im familiar with this kind of things. )
Please give me advice as these days i'm feeling like a sinking ship ........
All of these things, an excellent way to learn is a temporary subscription to lynda.com for $37.50 (or $25.00 without the lesson files, but I can't really recommend that. There you can learn (x)html, css, javascript, jQuery, wordpress, php, flash, and dreamweaver (many people shun wysiwyg tools, but I love being able to click one button to see what it looks like and click another button to upload files). If you don't have the $$$ for flash and dreamweaver, download the trial and learn how to use them. If you know how, you can make up their price in a few months. There are about 250 tutorials dedicated to web topics on lynda.
Also, buy a copy of Code Complete 2nd edition by Steve McConnell, the last thing the world needs is more sloppily coded projects and websites. While the book is generally focused on languages like C++ and Java, the concepts it discusses are very broad.
Thanks markthema3, ya i heard about lynda.com but i dont know which one is better for a noob like me, and thanks for suggesting me " Code Complete 2nd edition by Steve McConnell " but thats for software developer !!!???? I'm confused over it.
please suggest me better books for the beginners level.
You don't necessarily need to learn JavaScript to understand jQuery, but it'd probably be a 'nice to have'. For the most part though, unless you want to create custom things, you don't really need to have a massive understanding of jQuery since there are so many available snippets of code out there.
I would first focus on understanding and mastering HTML and CSS.
The best book I have ever seen for beginners through advanced web designers is called HTML, XHTML & CSS For Dummies by Jeff Noble & Ed Tittel. It's now in it's 7th edition. It explains just about everything you need to know about HTML, XHTML, CSS and JavaScript, as well as introductions to using API's, JQuery, etc. This is still a great resource that I use much, and would be the first thing I would recommend for any beginner. -Cliff
@mukarram Yes, Code Complete is a software development book. However, much of the advice it gives applies to web development too. In fact, some of the advice is so general you could use it for essay writing tips.
The book @cnwtx suggested is also excellent. I borrowed that book from a friend and rather than give it back I just bought it from him :P
@TheDoc , @cnwtx , @markthema3 : Thanks Alot guys for your kind replies, right now i can't express my feelings and now i think i'm not alone at all on this planet, for seeing this help now i feel much better and i just wanna say MAY GOD ALWAYS BLESS YOU - GUYS , i'll always remember you in my prayers.
first I'l make a solid foundation for html & css then i'l try to learn all other recommendations.
