    Which do u prefer?

    Seo based #1 would be the best. But when people search your site for blogs they usualy do name.com/blog

    I'm a fan of /blog instead of a subdomain. No real reason, just purely the look and feel of the URL, personal preference. I tend to think of subdomains when I think of sites that offer you "your own site!" like chriscoyier.blahblahblah.com

    I like the /blog more too, because as you already said yourself, that's the most common way people do it these days.

    Easier to write /blog/ too. Annoying with an additional ".", IMHO.
