Spirte based animated jQuery dropdown?

I love sprite navigation (especially when fonts are of the highest importance) but I also need a drop down, which I know I can implement. But what I haven't seen before is a sprite based drop down that uses some kind of jQuery/javascript animation for the dropdown function. Does anybody know if this has been done?
