Automatic Wordpress Upgrade

    When entering my Username and password to update to current version of wordpress I get this message "Error: There was an error connecting to the server, Please verify the settings are correct."

    Do you think my host is not compatable or something?

    your host might not let it happen automatically, you might have to download it and then upload it.......

    I have upgraded online once, but had to manually upgrade on a couple of others

    I think it's more likely you have something wrong. FTP server, username, or password. I think if you have that right, but your host doesn't allow it, there is usually some kind of different error about writeability.

    You are right, had the wrong hostname. But now that I'm in it's giving me this...
    "Unable to locate WordPress directory. Installation Failed"

    Does that mean manual install for me?

    for the length of time it will actually take, I would have a copy locally as well, just in case anything went a miss.

    if it causing hassle I would manually install
