I just bought this motherboard

I have no idea how to plug in the cd rom. The standard port for the cable isn't there. Anyone got any idea? I have never seen a board like this before

I would suggest referring to the manual, or the manufacturer's support page.

well, after more research, it would appear that the new cdrom drives come with an sata connection and that is why there is not ide port for older drives. So I guess my solution is to buy a new dvd rom drive.

How old is your DVD Drive? Haven't they been SATA for years now?

I'm pretty sure you can get an IDE to SATA hookup or vice versa. Atleast you can for external HD's.

Decent SATA optical drives are available at reasonable prices in the UK, it's probably time to buy new :-)

It's a new board so i'm pretty sure its all sata..you could buy some IDE-to-SATA adapters or just buy new DVD-ROMs...

Agreed, get rid of the big ol' clumsy IDE cables, it's for the best :)
